This stunning shot captures MotoGP legend and 2006 World Champion Nicky Hayden during round five of the 2017 Superbike World Championship. A passionate and extremely dedicated rider, Hayden’s career started at the tender age of five, where he regularly competed in dirt track racing. The Owensboro Kentucky native won his first Motorcycle World Title in 2002 after securing the AMA Superbike Championship, before joining Repsol Honda in the world’s premier class of motorcycle road racing. He would go on to win his very first MotoGP race in a stunning performance at the 2005 Laguna Seca Grand Prix, qualifying on pole position and leading every lap of the race in front of his American home crowd. One year later, Hayden showed just how big a champion’s heart is, and won the 2006 World Title in the last race of the season with his raw talent, incredible consistency and determination.
The Kentucky kid raced his last laps in Imola, at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari for the Honda World Superbike Team. It would be his last participation in a motorbike race. #rideonkentuckykid
