24 Hours of Le Mans, 1963

In a race that saw a number of tragic accidents, the 1963 24 Hours of Le Mans was an epic battle with a vast lineup of cars that included Jaguar E-types, Carrera Porsches, A.C. Cobras and the infamous Ferrari GTOs. Elde and Pierre Dumay ran one of two Belgian GTOs from the Equipe National Belge, pictured above leading from Pierre Noblet and Jean Guichet in their own 4-litre Ferrari coupé. The Ecurie Francorchamps car would go on to retire from the race from an oil leak, while the Elde/Dumay partners secured a solid fourth place.
