1986 Portuguese Grand Prix Championship Contenders

One of the most iconic photos in Formula 1 history, Nigel Mansell, Nelson Piquet, Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna sitting together at the Estoril circuit. Nearing the end of the 1986 season, one of the most exciting years in Formula 1 history, the Portuguese Grand Prix was the third to last race of the season. And, to the amazement of everyone, all four aforementioned drivers were still in contention for the title. To see so many drivers so close in the championship was never seen before and was not repeated until 2010. While Senna dropped out after Portugal, the other three kept fighting until the very end, when eventually Prost took his second title.
